Nigel Clough Becomes Manager of Mansfield Town

Former Player and Manager Takes on New Role

Mansfield Town announced the appointment of Nigel Clough as their new manager in November 2020. Clough, a former professional football player and manager, signed a three-year deal with the club.

Mansfield Town's New Manager

Clough, born on March 19, 1966, is an English professional football manager and former player. He is the son of legendary football manager Brian Clough. Nigel Clough played for Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, and Manchester City, among other clubs, during his playing career.

After retiring as a player, Clough began his management career with Burton Albion in 2009. He led Burton Albion to two promotions and guided the club to victory in the Football League Trophy in 2015.

Mansfield Town's Current Position

Mansfield Town currently sits 22nd in League Two, the fourth tier of the English football pyramid. Clough will be tasked with improving the club's league position and challenging for promotion.
