Le Mans 66 Film Ken Miles

The Truth Behind the Legend in Le Mans '66

The Hollywood Hype

Ford v Ferrari, the blockbuster movie, depicted a dramatic clash between Ford Motor Company and British driver Ken Miles. However, according to recent revelations, the film's portrayal of the conflict may have been exaggerated.

Debunking the Myth

In a recently published book titled "Go Like Hell," author A.J. Baime reveals that the rivalry between Ford and Miles was less contentious than depicted in the film. Baime cites interviews with former Ford executives and engineers, who claim that Miles was highly respected and valued by the company.

While Miles did indeed have disagreements with Ford management, these were primarily over technical matters related to the car's performance. The film's portrayal of Miles as a rebellious outsider, constantly at odds with the establishment, is an overly simplistic interpretation of a more nuanced relationship.

The truth is, Ford and Miles worked together closely to develop the iconic Ford GT40, which ultimately triumphed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. The film's emphasis on the conflict between the two parties may have served to create a more compelling narrative, but it has also obscured the reality of their successful collaboration.
