Cristian Ponde Signs with C.S. Marítimo

League newcomer C.S. Marítimo signs Cristian Ponde leading into the 2023-24 season in Liga Portugal.
Marítimo made the official announcement over the past weekend, confirming the signing of midfielder Cristian Ponde from S.C. Farense.
Ponde, 27, is a Spanish-born player who has represented the Dominican Republic at the international level. He began his professional career in Spain with Sporting Gijón, before moving to Portugal in 2020 to join Farense.
In his two seasons with Farense, Ponde made 64 appearances in the Liga Portugal 2, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists. He was a key player in Farense's promotion to the Primeira Liga in 2022.
Marítimo finished 10th in the Primeira Liga last season, and they will be hoping that Ponde can help them improve on that position in the upcoming campaign. The Madeira-based club has been busy in the transfer market this summer, and they have also signed Joel Tagueu, Joel Sonora, and Joao Afonso.
